SOLD FOR MICROSCOPY/RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY

Our spores are all produced by the Mondo Mycologicals team in Amsterdam in cutting edge lab conditions where they operate to the highest standards. ‘Mondo’ magic mushroom spore vials are produced in totally sterile conditions and are best kept in the dark and refrigerated (2-8°C) to increase the shelf life of the spores. A normal household fridge is perfectly fine for this

Can i legally use these spores to grow mushrooms in the UK?

No, it is currently illegal to use these spores to grow magic mushrooms in the UK, we sell them for microscopy and genetic preservation purposes only

(please check local laws in your area)

Why spore vials over syringes?

Spore vials are superior to the spore syringes in every way
Longer shelf life – they can be stored in a fridge for up to 2 years (6 months for syringes)
Its possible to get many more spores out of a vial as the spores do not stick to the glass container which is a problem with a plastic syringes
Our spore vials have 1000 parts per mm which is approximately double what you would see in a traditional spore syringe
Easier to store

What comes with the spore vials?

1x Glass Vial with 10ml of spore solution
1x Sterile 10ml Syringe for extracting the spores
2x Alcohol sterile wipes to clean the vials and syringe needle

How to use Spore vial for microscopy purposes

Our spore vials have a cap with a circular rubber membrane on it. This rubber membrane, or septa, can be pierced using the needle of the enclose sterile syringe and will stop any airflow, micro-organisms or anything else from going through.

Before extracting any spores you should shake the spore vial vigorously to spread the spores evenly throughout the vial. Remove the protective stopper cap from the top of the vial and sterilize the septa with an alcohol wipe. Unpack the sterile syringe and remove the protective cap from the needle. Insert the needle of the syringe through the septa.

The point of the needle should be submerged in the spore solution. Pull back the plunger of the syringe slowly so that the syringe will fill with spore solution. You are now ready to look at your spores under a microscope

How to study spores and research using a microscope

Looked at by the naked eye our spore vials are not of much interest. The spore solution contains lots of little black specks which are clumps of spores but even the clear solution contains many spores that are no visible without the use of some magnification.

The true beauty of our spore solutions become apparent under the microscope where you are welcomed into the wonderful world of mushroom spores. After having prepared your microscope slide, drop some of the mushroom spore solution on it and then cover the specimen with a microscope covering glass. The best magnification for Psilocybe cubensis and spore research is a magnification of 1000x or higher. Once you have got your specimen under the microscope you will be able to look at the beautiful spores in all their glory.

Can you reuse the syringe?

After using the syringe to put spores on a microscope slide you can reuse it after you have sterilized the needle. This can be done with a spirit burner or lighter. Burn the needle by keeping it in the flame long enough to make it glow orange. Let it cool down before you insert the needle again.

How to store spore vials

It is best to store our mushroom spore vials at 2°C – 8°C or 35°F – 46°F. Leave the ‘septa protecting stopper cap’ in place when storing the vial. After removing this protective cap, always sterilize the septa with an alcohol wipe before you insert the syringe.
